Mrs. Maryland United States 2008

Regena Reigns served as Mrs. Maryland United States 2008 and Mrs. Baltimore City United States 2008. This pageant queen not only won both pageants, she was a winner in every scored category (interview, swimsuit, evening gown) both times!! Regena represented the great state of  Maryland beautifully at the National Pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her modeling, journalism and acting career braced her to be crowned “Queen.” She has already met with Governor Martin O’Malley,Congressman Elijah Cummings and was personally invited by State Superintendent Nancy Grasmick to participate in a Youth Summit. Considering the challenges of today, now is even more the opportune time to reach out to the youth. Mrs. Maryland's platform is Youth Empowerment Programs. Her most popular program are the H.E.A.L. programs-Helping Educate Artistic Leaders and the "Queendom Reigns-in-You" workshops. Regena is having an amazing time making appearances and participating in community service projects. You may spot Regena feeding the homeless, hosting a poetry competition for children or helping an elderly person cross the street.“Community service is my sustenance,” says Regena who has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated for thirteen years. Regena is the embodiment of the quote from her sorority sister Maya Angelou,“I have found among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.”

Valentine's Day Performance

After my morning prayer, God revealed to me he wanted me to help someone. My schedule is organized well in advance, however I was being lead to conduct an impromptu appearance. In obedience I called one nearby hospital, I didn't connect with their spirit so I called a nursing home. The nursing home didn't answer so I called a second nursing home-Genesis Nursing Center. I said "Hi, I'm Regena Reigns, Mrs. Maryland United States" calling to see if you need extra help on Valentines' Day. Elaine answered the phone and gasped as soon as she heard my name, she was almost in tears and said "I really need the help, I didn't have the energy to come in here." I mentioned, no worries, I will assist her for about an hour. I arrived at the nursing home and handed roses to the residents. I love 65+people, they have the same wide-eyed innoncence as children and when they look at me, they smile as if they're looking at a fairy. Well that's my overall pont as to why I'm sharing my story. I served as an angel in time of need to Elaine and the resdidents of Genesis Nursing Center. I also gave a poetic performance that the residents loved and help served refreshments. One sweet man even serenaded me! This was one of my best appearances, the media wasn't present and I didn't get a chance to take photos, it didn't matter I just did the appearance to appreciative people because it was the right thing to do. And I made it there by the grace of God. I left my car lights on earlier in the day and my neighbor came into my yard, knocked on my door and told me my lights were on, even though I have a pit bull. So my question is-Are you serving as an angel? We as mortal people need not have golden wings to be kind, whether it's helping a smile, helping out at a nursing home or telling someone they left their car lights on; we all can play a role in God's plan of "loving thy neighbor."
